Jamie Matthews is the newest special guest to join the Mama D family of musicians!
Music runs deep in Jamie. As the son of musician parents, he has fond memories of growing up in a rocking household. He spent his childhood years banging on an old drum set while his father unleashed mastery on the guitar. His drumming career reached its pinnacle in 8th grade, when his band performed a rendition of “Stacy’s Mom” for the talent show.

Shortly thereafter, in 2003, Jamie saw the film “School of Rock” and was inspired to finally pick up one of his Dad’s guitars. He spent his high school and college years playing alternative rock/pop-punk music in bands with his best friend Brian Yates. In 2011, they formed The Smelling Fresh and wrote a full length studio album titled Grounded Skies. He continues to write music today, and enjoys jamming with his parents and two brothers when the family gets together.
Jamie is a food scientist and has been working in various product development roles since 2013. He is currently the Application Center Manager for BENEO, a global specialty ingredients company. You can catch Jamie with the band on Friday February 21 at The Rathskeller!
