Musician Spotlight: Chris Neptune

Chris Neptune is a solo performer, songwriter, composer, and producer from Dunellen, NJ.

Chris played his first show with Mama D in August 2019, and his keys and brass sounds add an extra dimension to the Vexations. Chris grew up learning how to play piano, guitar, and trumpet, and quickly became interested in singing and sound engineering while he was finishing school.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education as he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers State University in New Brunswick. Chris composed several pieces under his birth name – Chris J. Bleeke – that were performed publicly during his tenure at Rutgers. Works included “Follow My Lead” (premiered at Trumpets Jazz Club in Montclair, NJ), “Baltimore,” (premiered at Nicholas Music Center in New Brunswick, NJ), “The Skies of Bethlehem” (premiered at Kirkpatrick Chapel in New Brunswick, NJ), and “Eyes of the Kingdom” (commissioned by Wayne Valley High School in NJ).  After graduating, he received a full-time position as a music teacher within New Jersey’s public schools.

Following his formal education, Chris went on to release several alternative-rock publications under the pseudonym Chris Neptune; his most recent is a full-length album titled “Schoolyard Sidewalk Chalkdust Daydreams.”  The music video of his single from that album, “Magic,” was featured in the Garden State Film Festival and the Westfield International Film Festival in 2018. Chris’s music can be found on Spotify.

You can catch Chris rocking out with Mama D next at Stage House Tavern Mountainside Friday 11/19/21 from 10pm-1am. Following Chris on Instagram or like his page on Facebook for more info.
