A secret hideaway in the woods of Hunterdon County provides an unlikely but unique spot for outdoor garden concerts. This Thursday features Mama D Acoustic and the music of Donna Ward.
The 180-acre preserve was bequeathed to Tewksbury Township Helen A. Whittemore. She was a nature lover and diarist who wanted her land and house to be preserved so that others may be awed by the natural world and inspired by its beauty to preserve it. The preserve includes Whittemore House, Whittemore Meadows and 11 miles of trails for hiking, dog walking, and exploring, photographing and painting nature. Trails traverse mainly wooded areas with wetlands, ravines, and hilly terrain.
Now, the Friends of Whittemore manage the property and present programming of all kinds, including art and music events. Back by popular demand, Mama D returns to the Whittemore Garden Concert Series. The performance will include acoustic covers as well as the original music of lead vocalist Donna Ward. Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy the show! The performance will be held indoors in the event of inclement weather. Admission is free for members and $15 for all others. Visit the Whittemore website for more info and to purchase tickets.
