Mama D & The Vexations is excited to return to The Rathskeller in Morristown for a second time this Friday April 7!This beer hall is nestled away beneath the main dining room of Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen, located in the Vail Mansion next to the Mayo Performing Arts Center. “Rathskeller” is actually the German word for “council’s cellar” or a room in the basement of a civil building. The pub is aptly named, as the room used to serve as the Morristown jail cell after the town acquired the mansion in 1922. Since then, the property has been converted to luxury condos, and Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen was born.
Adding to the mystique of the Rathskeller is the adventure surrounding locating the entrance! While there are no signs inside or outside the restaurant, simply enter Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen and ask the host how to get downstairs to the Rathskeller. You’ll be directed down a small flight of stairs to a space decidedly more relaxed than the formal dining room upstairs. There is full bar and dinner menu here, as well as a late night pub menu offered after 11pm.
The Rathskeller offers live music most Friday nights, with no cover charge. The room provides a relaxed vibe for music-lovers to sit and enjoy some of North Jersey’s most eclectic bands, craft beers, and pub fare. Mama D & The Vexations is happy to provide our take on pop, classic rock, country, and soul to the stage at the Rathskeller on Friday, April 5 for Jack’s Abby Craft Lager Rathskeller Takeover. Jack’s Abby will be closing out their New Jersey launch week with a party in the Rathskeller at Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen! Featuring Post Shift Pils, House Lager, Heavy Trommel, Blood Orange Wheat, Citra Brau, Hoponius Union, Bourbon Barrel Aged Framinghammers and some Barrel Aged Springdale goodies. Reservations are recommended!
